United Way of Northwest Alabama's Witches Ride

United Way of Northwest Alabama is hosting a Witches Ride through downtown Florence on Thursday, October 20h at 6:00 pm (with a rain date of Thursday, October 27). We hope to have several hundred women and men, dressed as witches and warlocks riding bicycles or walking with brooms, as they throw candy to children. This is a fundraiser for United Way’s Success by 6 Program and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library project.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter the family’s income. Dolly created this program in 1995, as a tribute to her father. Inspiring a child’s love of reading became Dolly’s mission, and with the help of thousands of organizations, children are being given the opportunity to succeed, one book at a time. At this time, over 150 million books have been mailed to children all around the world and we have approximately 1,300 children enrolled in our local program.

In addition to the Witches Ride, we are also planning an after-party in downtown Florence. Participating restaurants will each offer a “Signature Halloween cocktail”, a beer &/or wine special, and an appetizer special.  We invite you to join us for this fun after-party, as well!

We would be honored if your business would consider sponsoring this event!  We have several different sponsorship levels, ranging from $100 to $1000.  All monies raised will go directly to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in an effort to promote early childhood literacy while instilling a love of reading for local children.
